Baby Rattles

When I started woodturning, I just wanted to turn bowls.  Then friends started having babies and I started making baby rattles.  Here are two of the thirty or so rattles I’ve made on the lathe.  They represent the two basic styles I have.  On top, a captive ring rattle made of one piece of maple.  Below, the glued-up rattle of maple and walnut with corn kernels inside.
