Our Lady of the Underpass

Pope and Mary

Sally and Francis made a pilgrimage today.

For those of you who haven’t heard, Mary may be making an appearance in Chicago. Specifically, her image is on the wall of a highway underpass about a mile away from our condo. So, around four o’clock this afternoon, Sally and Francis went to check it out.

Francis wasn’t sure it was a miracle, but she touched the wall just to be safe. Sally’s skeptical, too. And frankly, so am I. Based on the pictures Sally took, I’ve seen better likenesses of Mary in a bowl of corn chex.

How does this appearance stack up with other recent showings? You be the judge:
1. Boston, MA – 2003
2. Grilled Cheese Sandwich – 1994
3. Clearwater, FL – 1996
4. Passaic, NJ – 2003

* UPDATE *

Sally pointed out last night (and Kristen points out in the comments) the curious case of the “Nun Bun” in Nashville, TN. While this is probably the best likeness I’ve seen of a religious figure on an edible item, I should note that the pastry is thought to resemble Mother Theresa, not Mary.

Kristen - What about the cinnamon roll at Bongo Java in Nashville? That has to be one of the top, all time best….
