My sweet friend Elizabeth, a Rare Bird.

I just received the very best surprise in the mail from my sweet friend, Elizabeth Madden of Rare Bird Preserves. Elizabeth and I were in a playgroup when I lived in the Chicagoland area a few years ago. At the time, she was going to fancy pants cooking school to be a pastry chef.  She, along with my other talented momma friends, would watch our little ones play at the park while dreaming big dreams. Today, I literally got to taste one of those dreams and it was seriously…delicious. Elizabeth, thank you so much for the tasty preserves! We loved them and will continue to enjoy them… until they are all stinkin’ gone… give us a day or two.

Yum. And yes, for all you Texas folk, it does taste like a Cherry Limeade. 😉
I’m a sucker for beautiful packaging. So not only is it worth buying because it makes your mouth happy, but if you’re a design nut like me, it’ll make your eyes happy too.
Sam says, “Yummy, Mommy! I try it?!”
George takes his preserves slightly more serious.
My birds.
I wish I had been shooting with something other than a point and shoot… I see that blue coat and that yellow jar and I find myself wanting to take photos. ha.

Now go buy some and support a crazy talented girl….not to mention a really thoughtful one.

If you’re in Chicago, you can pick it up at WholeFoods (and many other places), but if you’re somewhere else like me, you can order it here.
